Paul Carter OAM
CFP®, DipFP
Managing Director
Paul was the founder of the Provident Group in 1997 after joining the industry in 1987. Provident has grown to a business that now employs over 30 people offering financial planning advice to a large and diverse group of individuals and businesses with operations in Nedlands, Wangara, Bunbury and Broome.
Paul stands by the groups vision of ‘Plan, Help Achieve’ and believes this simple but powerful statement helps guide everyone at Provident towards the provision of advice and service targeted at the individuals’ identified goals and aspirations – in fact this is what most excites Paul in the delivery of advice, helping people achieve their own ‘Enjoy Factor’ moments. ‘Experiencing and celebrating clients achieving their desired outcomes is both uplifting and motivating for me and is my ‘why’ I do what I do’.
Whilst financial advice contains standard components, compliance details and is a technical discipline, Paul approaches his role from a personal perspective. He seeks to understand the client’s objectives and expectations of service before looking to present and articulate advice that is relevant to them and their individual situation. ‘Delivering outcomes to meet our clients expectations in a compliant and bespoke manner is what drives our team to achieve the very best for each and every Provident client’.
Paul’s specialty is in the retirement and investment advice areas and with over 35 years experience his knowledge and experience see him providing unique solutions in all facets of financial advice. Paul also has specialised expertise in key person, buy/sell programs and advanced wealth accumulation strategies including self-managed super funds and gearing strategies.
Paul also has had extensive involvement in industry and voluntary roles in the community and was awarded an Order of Australia in the general division (OAM) in 2022 for his service to the community. At a national conference in 2025 Paul was awarded an industry Lifetime Achievement Award.
In receiving these awards Paul stated ‘It has been a very humbling experience to be recognised with these awards especially when you look through the list of giants that share these special honours with me. I also recognise the many Australians who continue to serve their community selflessly on a voluntary basis not seeking recognition for their passion and involvement for the better of us all - I feel these awards are shared by all with whom I have had the privilege to walk alongside and represent during my journey.’
Paul Carter is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia, completed a Diploma of Financial Planning (Dip FP), a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP) and an authorised representative and credit representative of Akumin Pty Ltd.
