Jim has been retired for four years and, while we are still young and healthy, are busy enjoying retirement from overseas holidays to learning new hobbies at home. Last year we went to Canada and that holiday was all about nature and the wildlife, this year our adventures took us to Europe where it was all about history and culture.
We started in Paris, then had a 14 day Rhine/Danube river cruise from Amsterdam with visits to Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and Singapore. It was a truly fantastic holiday filled every day with castles, gardens, opera houses and singers, museums, galleries, music conservatories, churches, cathedrals and so much more.
These touring holidays are expensive and certainly make a dent in the super, but for us it was worth it. We’re realistic about what we can do and our regular reviews every few months with Greg are important so that we know what we can achieve. Greg is very focused on long term strategies which is reassuring, especially in this economic climate. It is only due to his input that we can enjoy this lifestyle.
Our next holiday? Will be WA based, as we drive from Broome to Perth during the wildflower season.
We are both retired and our Enjoy Factor is taking an overseas holiday each year to visit family and friends. For the past six years we have cruised, trained and driven in Europe, Canada, USA, and New Zealand. Our son, wife and two grandchildren live in London Ontario Canada. We visit them once a year and usually include an “add on” holiday whilst in the Northern Hemisphere.
Last year in September we had an 8-night cruise down the St. Lawrence River to enjoy the fall colours. We met friends in Boston and drove through Maine to Quebec City to board our boat, the “Canadian Empress”. The leaf colours along the road side were magnificent. The St. Lawrence River has many lochs to enable large ships to use the river. We found the navigation in and out of the lochs extremely interesting. Another highlight of the trip was the Thousand Island region with the palatial summer homes of the rich Canadians and Americans, and of course the wonderful fall colours again along the river.
Provident, Paul Carter and Greg Neill have done an excellent job organising our financial affairs such that we can draw funds as needed to enjoy these fabulous overseas holidays organised by Bev.
