Our Process

At Provident, we follow a six step process for building successful financial plans tailored to your individual needs.

1  Initial engagement

We will provide you with information about Provident, including our Financial Services and Credit Guide which details our background, how we work and our advice fees. We will send you forms to be completed and returned prior to your first appointment as well as advise you on what to bring on your first appointment.

2  Information gathering

  • First meeting with your planner
Your planner will gather information about your current financial position, attitude to risk and personal financial goals and objectives. This information will be used as the foundation for developing a plan tailored to your needs. Your planner will explain our advice services and process, including our model portfolios, and our service packages.

3  Advice formulation & documentation

Your planner will take a comprehensive look at your position, and after extensive research and modelling, will recommend in a written Statement of Advice (SOA) the most suitable strategies, products and services to achieve your goals and objectives.

4  Advice preparation & acceptance

  • Second meeting with your planner
Your planner will meet with you to present your financial plan and explain the strategy, products and services.

5  Advice implementation

  • Possible third meeting with your planner
When you are ready to proceed, your financial plan will be put into action. Depending on the products recommended in your SOA, we may need to arrange another meeting with your planner.

6  Ongoing review

Your circumstances, lifestyle and financial goals are likely to change over time, so it is important that your financial plan is regularly reviewed and adjusted as necessary, to ensure your plan remains on track.

Our cost structure

Our costs and fees, outlined in our Financial Services and Credit Guide, are discussed with you prior to undertaking the advice process. This ensures that you are always fully aware of any fees or commissions in advance.

Initial Consultation

  • no charge

Statement of advice preparation fee

Before commencement, we will forward to you a document that summarises our understanding of your goals and objectives, your current situation and the appropriate cost for the preparation of your Statement of Advice (a financial plan that states our recommendations).

Placement fee

If you agree to proceed with the recommendations within your Statement of Advice, a placement fee (should investments or insurance be recommended) will be charged. This is clearly found within the Statement of Advice document and your Financial Planner will discuss this fee with you.
